Arc Wood & Timbers provides custom milling for large old growth timbers both salvaged and harvested out of Southeast Alaska. Our timbers come from tight grained, old growth logs, dating 200 - 800 years old.

The species of wood that Arc sources include the following:

• Alaska Hemlock (Hem-Fir)
• Alaska Sitka Spruce
• Alaskan Yellow Cedar
• Western Red Cedar
• Douglas Fir - British Columbia and Oregon
• Redwood - Northern California

There are 2 sourcing options when choosing timbers from Arc. The first is material that is milled from 100% old growth salvaged timbers, the 2nd option is material from live harvested old growth trees that are logged based on regulated timber sales conducted by the State of Alaska (Division of Forestry) and the Forest Service (USDA). Both options produce equally beautiful, high grade material; however the lead times required for salvaged timbers are longer based on the fact that we must locate, salvage, and mill the product if we don't have the logs in inventory.
